About this Blog

In April of 2011, I travelled to the Philippines for two weeks to visit friends working in Cebu city in the Central Visayas. Before I went, I was able to find lots of information about the best beaches, the best diving sights, and where to stay in the jungle, and lots of pages of facts and statistics. But there was very little to give a sense of what the Philippines is really like and the experiences you can have if you get off the backpacking trail and dig a little deeper into the local culture. I don't claim to be an expert (the exact opposite, in fact) but I hope that anyone interested who reads this page will get a little taste of this intriguing country and share in what turned out for me to be the trip of a lifetime.

I plan to keep updating over the next week or so, so if you're interested, please subscribe or check back for new posts!
